Gaslight Gathering Convention
Press Pass Policy
Due to our small size we do not have a press room, press table or press hours of operation. More information of special programming events will be published here closer to the convention.
Press credentials will be extended to professional journalists and photographers who have been assigned to cover Gaslight Gathering for professional newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations and news media outlets. Due to the large number of free-lance writers, semi-pro writers, fan writers, photographers, and Web developers in fandom, free press memberships cannot be extended to individuals of fandom-only publications. However, individuals who write for any publication, broadcast program or Internet site are welcome to press releases, press kits and assistance from the Press Relations staff.
Professional journalists will be asked to supply the publication name as well as the name and contact information of the person who assigned them to cover the convention. A press pass may be given if the writer has published a recent article on science fiction conventions in a widely read format. Journalists will be given one press pass only. Teens and children 12 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Please contact our publicity department if you or someone from your organization is planning to cover this year's convention.
Weapons Policy
Gaslight Gathering encourages the wearing of costumes of all kinds in and about the convention site. Should you be carrying a prop or real weapon, particularly swords or guns of any kind, stop by Con-Ops where we will inspect the weapon and Peace bond it where necessary. We ask that you do NOT wear any realistic looking weapons of any kind outside of the function space itself. If you are planning on leaving the convention space, please either pack your weapon or make arrangements to leave it with someone you trust. Keep weapons sheathed, holstered or tied down. The convention wants to avoid any accidents, which may involve what might seem to be harmless horseplay, or actions that could be taken as threatening by non- con goers. If your actions, with regards to your props, might be dangerous to others around you, you will be asked to put your props away. Failure to comply may result in expulsion from the convention without refund.
Membership Refund/Transfer Policy
We do not offer refunds for memberships or special event tickets. However, Gaslight Gathering does recognize extenuating circumstances may occur and will take them into consideration if a refund is requested. Any requests must be made no later than Wednesday before the convention. Please contact registration with any questions concerning changes in your membership.
Autograph Policy
Authors will sign their books or other items in which their work appears in at no charge. Guest panelists may sell their own books, art, photos, etc, so long as they autograph the item at no charge. Guests will sign the convention program book at no charge. An author/actor must sign books in which he/she is published at no charge to the attendee but may charge a nominal fee for autographing photos or other film career tie-ins, including books that he/she did not pen. Actors may charge a fee for their autograph when signing an item belonging to an attendee.
Smoking Policy
The City of San Diego has ordinances restricting where a person may smoke. All convention facility space including court yards & promonades as well as convention-run hotel rooms are NO SMOKING areas. Those of you who smoke, please be considerate of others and smoke outside the convention areas, or in your hotel room.
